The estate was originally purchased back in the 1960s by Rurima however it is now managed by Rurima's granddaughter Lucy Wanja Ndogo. The estate over time has been divided and passed onto family members who individually own parcels (or shambas), which can be up to 3kms apart. The estate operates like a cooperative where each family member brings their coffee cherries to the factory (wet mill) and earnings are divided fairly.
