Tucked away in the Nyamasheke region of Rwanda is the Cyato washing station site. The region is also home to the spectacular Nyungwe forest, which is one of the oldest rainforests in Central Africa and home to a rich biodiversity of native flora and fauna. Coffee farmers in the area avoid using synthetic fertilisers or pesticides and instead allow native honeybees from Nyungwe to pollinate the coffee trees. The bees are very beneficial for the propagation of the coffee and results in an increased yield, more uniformity between cherries and a unique, distinctive flavour profile.
The coffees grown here are harvested and processed with meticulous care. Expect notes of cranberry and lime cordial with a soft and syrupy finish.
Filter roast. Suitable for pour over, Aeropress, drip machines and plunger.
