It’s hard to overstate the impact that Mecca has had on Sydney’s burgeoning coffee scene over the last two decades. What started as a single coffee bar in Sydney's CBD back in 2005 has since morphed into one of Australia’s most celebrated and successful torchbearers for quality coffee.
At a time when a Rosetta was the pinnacle of what it meant to be specialty coffee in Australia; Mecca took a more nuanced approach to specialty coffee. Paul Geshos, the founder of Mecca, personified the beans in each cup by telling stories around who grew the beans, what gave them a particular taste, and how they were processed.
While Paul and the team at the original 67 King St, Sydney 2000 flagship location called last shots in 2024, Mecca’s coffee operation has continued to grow and expand in the preceding time. A new flagship location in Alexandria, Sydney with more space for roasting and even more room for creativity has been instrumental in Mecca’s continued popularity amongst home baristas and coffee aficionados.
Today, Mecca’s range of coffee beans available online through ALTDROP includes a range of single-origin, house blends, and seasonal blends – enough to keep everyone interested. Suitable for both filter and espresso, Mecca’s online range of coffee beans includes a rotation of light, medium, and darker roasts.
