About Sample Coffee Roasters

Sample the Good Stuff

Sample Coffee is an independent roasting company founded on Gadigal land in Sydney in 2011. Small by design and guided by flavour rather than trends, it shares a diverse range of coffees chosen for their quality, honest sourcing and ability to brew consistently well at home or in a café. Founder Reuben Mardan began with a tiny multi-roaster espresso bar in Surry Hills, creating a welcoming place to explore different roasters, single origins and brewing styles without fuss or pretension. He began roasting Sample’s own coffees a few years later, then opened a roastery and café space in St Peters in 2014. More than a decade on, Sample’s approach remains relaxed and thoughtful: exceptional coffee should be something anyone can discover, enjoy and make their own.

Sample Coffee Roasters have been instrumental in shaping Sydney’s specialty coffee scene over more than a decade. From humble origins in Sydney’s coffee capital of Surry Hills, Sample has grown and evolved into larger spaces.
