Small Batch began with a simple question: could coffee taste better? In a world where Australians were accustomed to oily, bitter, espresso-brewed coffee, few questioned the freshness or origin of their beans. Coffee was often drowned in milk and sugar, masking its true flavours. Andrew Kelly, the founder of Small Batch, was one of the curious few who sought to change this. His journey started in a backyard with a heat gun and a colander, experimenting with roasting techniques and challenging the traditional approach to coffee. Today, Small Batch is dedicated to sourcing, roasting, and brewing coffee that truly highlights the nuanced flavours of each bean, redefining what coffee can be for Australians.

What is your dispatch schedule and delivery times?

DISPATCH TIMES

Whole Bean Orders

  • We aim to dispatch all orders within 2 - 3 business days.

    Fast dispatch is a top priority for us, but since coffee has a short window of peak freshness, we need time to order and receive fresh batches from our roasters.

Ground Orders

  • Ground orders are dispatched every Wednesday with a cut-off time of 11:59pm (AEST) the Sunday prior 

    Since we don't grind coffee on-site, we rely on our roasters to handle it for us. If you'd like your order ground, please make sure it's placed before the cut-off time.

Metro: 1-3 business days once dispatched

Regional: 3-7 business days once dispatched

How fresh is the coffee?

Our coffee is roasted within two days of being dispatched allowing for your coffee to arrive at your door step 5-8 days old, ready to start drinking. 

Do you offer free shipping?

Enjoy free shipping on all orders of 3 x 250g bags or more. For all ALTDROP custom subscriptions, free shipping is automatically included, regardless of the order size.
